New impact requirements have been developed by Gold Standard to support funds in measuring, managing and maximising the sustainable development impact of its investments. Applications are now being accepted from fund managers interested in taking part in the pilot of the requirements.
The two-year pilot phase will comprise of up to five funds over a two-year period. The fund and impact management team will gain insights into best practice impact management, measurement and maximisation, using the full suite of Gold Standard tools at subsidised costs.
The Registry
The Fund Requirements Registry is a publicly available repository of all Funds and Portfolios applying the Gold Standard Fund Requirements. This ensures that all Funds, Portfolios and their impacts are visible in the public domain throughout each stage of the Gold Standard assurance cycle.
Gold Standard have developed a first of its kind set of Fund Requirements, the aim of which is to provide a third-party verifiable investment management process to support investors measure, manage and maximise the sustainable development impacts of their investments.
These requirements define a process to measure impacts generated from investments. The data collected is different to environmental social, governance (ESG) risk criteria since impact measurement and management minimises risks through the measurement of the actual outcomes at the level of the investee. Impact management requires the Fund to define an investment strategy that delivers positive financial, social and environmental impact.
Gold Standard requirements ensure best practice impact investing that builds on IFC safeguards, UNDP Equity Standard, OECD Blended Finance approaches, and best practice in the market – providing support from initial strategy design, through to project screening, feasibility, implementation and exit.
