ELIGIBLE RETROACTIVE CREDITING PERIOD FOR COMBINED DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATION (RC 2020 PR – PR V1.2)

1.            Background

According to Principles and Requirements

  • The maximum period for Retroactive Certification is two years prior to the date of Project Design Certification unless otherwise stated in a specific Methodology or Product Requirements. (Principles and Requirements paragraph 5.1.37, page 26)
  • Projects can combine design certification with the first verification/performance certification. (Principles and Requirements paragraph 5.1.53, page 28)

 

This rule clarification is released to confirm the maximum retroactive certification period allowed for projects, seeking combined design certification with the first verification/performance certification, under the latest or previous versions of Gold Standard for the Global Goals.

 

2.            Rule Clarification

It is clarified that paragraph 5.1.37 of Principles and Requirements also applies to projects seeking combined design certification with the first verification/ performance certification. In case of combined validation/ verification, the maximum period for Retroactive Certification is two years (three years for LUF activities) prior to the date of Project Design Certification unless otherwise stated in a specific Methodology or Product Requirements.
