UPDATE

Gold Standard is updating all existing methodologies to align with the principles of the Paris Agreement (PA). Non-Paris aligned methodologies will be retired, and PA-Aligned versions must be applied for all vintage 2026 issuances. Please read the full update here and associated FAQs.

Gold Standard Methodologies will be revised in accordance with the PA Alignment Schedule and prioritised based on usage. Paris aligned methodologies will be published on our Paris Agreement Alignment Documents page.

To leverage existing assessments, Gold Standard is actively following the UNFCCC process to republish CDM methodologies under Paris Agreement Crediting Mechanism (PACM). If there are significant delays with PACM publication, Gold Standard will include and update any relevant methodologies within its workplan.

Article 6.4/PACM Methodology — Renewable Electricity Generation – A6.4-AMM-003: Electricity generation from renewable sources connected to an electricity system | UNFCCC

Gold Standard has adopted A6.4-AMM-003: Electricity generation from renewable sources connected to an electricity system for application under GS4GG. It covers eligible new wind, solar, geothermal and hydropower plants supplying all net electricity generated to an electricity system, including qualifying co-located battery storage. The methodology provides an alternative alongside G-RESET, subject to applicable Gold Standard requirements.

Grid-connected renewables, storage and energy transition (G-RESET)

G-RESET is Gold Standard’s next-generation, modular renewable energy methodology for quantifying emission reductions from new energy generation, upgrades to existing plants, energy storage, captive renewable supply and virtual power plants. A supporting calculation with worked examples is also provided to support application of the methodology.

Green Hydrogen Production

This methodology is applicable to activities that reduce or avoid greenhouse gas (GHG)-emissions from hydrogen production by replacing fossil-fuel-intensive conventional processes with low-carbon alternatives. It applies to newly built (greenfield) or retrofitted (brownfield) industrial facilities that produce green hydrogen via water electrolysis, powered exclusively or primarily by renewable electricity.

Green Ammonia Production

This methodology is applicable to activities that reduce or avoid greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from ammonia production by replacing fossil-fuel-intensive conventional processes with low-carbon alternatives.
