Gold Standard is updating all existing methodologies to align with the principles of the Paris Agreement (PA). Non-Paris aligned methodologies will be retired, and PA-Aligned versions must be applied for all vintage 2026 issuances. Please read the full update here and associated FAQs.
Gold Standard Methodologies will be revised in accordance with the PA Alignment Schedule and prioritised based on usage. Paris aligned methodologies will be published on our Paris Agreement Alignment Documents page.
To leverage existing assessments, Gold Standard is actively following the UNFCCC process to republish CDM methodologies under Paris Agreement Crediting Mechanism (PACM). If there are significant delays with PACM publication, Gold Standard will include and update any relevant methodologies within its workplan.

This methodology tool defines additional criteria for the application of UNFCCC’s A6.4-AMT-006: Determination of the Technical Lifetime of Equipment V1.0 within Gold Standard for the Global Goals (GS4GG) approved methodologies. These criteria ensure that the determination and application of Technical Lifetime (TL) and Remaining Technical Lifetime (RTL) are consistent with GS4GG principles of climate ambition, transition alignment, and environmental integrity. GS4GG methodologies require that lifetime assumptions also reflect decarbonization pathways, transition timelines, and avoidance of lock-in.
Project developers are required to demonstrate that there are governance and management systems (GMS) in place to ensure smooth design, implementation and operation of the urban Project. The governance and management systems criteria are available in this Tool. Each of the criteria given in the Tool shall be self-assessed by the developer for a given Project as relevant.
The SDG assessment tool enables cities/municipalities to carry out the assessment of SDG contribution of their planned project/programme beyond what would reasonably be expected to occur in the Baseline Scenario. The programme developer will apply this tool to assess SDG contributions and identify relevant indicators to monitor actual progress made and results achieved while also providing data to communicate project's contributions towards a particular SDG.
This downloadable excel document provides a list of all the methodologies eligible for certification under Gold Standard for the Global Goals. The document includes all Gold Standard methodologies and eligible CDM methodologies and provides a one-stop-shop for project practitioners assessing which methodology to apply to their project activity.
